About This Product

■Summary

The MCS1806 is a linear Hall effect current sensor for AC or DC current sensing. The hole array is differential and cancels out any stray magnetic fields. A low-resistance primary conductor allows current to flow close to ICs containing precision Hall-effect sensors. This current generates a magnetic field that is sensed at two different points by an integrated Hall effect transducer. The difference in magnetic field between these two points is then converted into a voltage proportional to the applied current. Spinning current technology is used to keep the offset low and stable. Galvanic isolation between the primary conduction path pins and the sensor leads allows the MCS1806 to be used in place of optoisolators and other isolation devices. The MCS1806 requires a minimal number of standard, readily available external components. The small footprint of the device's SOIC-8 package saves board space and is ideal for space-constrained applications.
