About This Product

■Summary

The MCS1802 is a linear Hall effect current sensor for AC or DC current sensing. The Hall array is differential and cancels out stray magnetic fields. A low-resistance primary inductor allows current to flow close to the IC, which contains a precision Hall-effect sensor. This current generates a magnetic field that is sensed at two different points by integrated Hall effect transducers. The magnetic field difference between these two points is then converted into a voltage proportional to the applied current. For less stable offsets, spinning current technology is used. Galvanic isolation between the primary conductive path pins and the sensor leads allows the MCS1802 to replace opto-isolators or other isolated ICs. The MCS1802 requires a minimal number of standard, readily available external components. The small device footprint reduces the IC footprint and reduces board space, making it ideal for space-constrained applications. The MCS1802 is offered in a SOIC-8 package.

■Features and benefits

・3.3V single power supply ・Immunity to external magnetic fields due to differential sensing ・Minimum insulation voltage: 2.2kVRMS ・Operating temperature: -40℃~+125℃ ・Internal conductor resistance: 0.9mΩ ・Range of 5A to 50A ・Adjustable bandwidth up to 100kHz ・4μs output rise time ・Output proportional to supply voltage ・Output proportional to AC or DC current ・Trimmed at the factory to ensure accuracy ・No magnetic hysteresis ・Equipped with a shield that suppresses capacitive coupling from the current conductor to the die (maximum 10V/ns) ・Provided in SOIC-8 package
