About This Product

■Summary

The MPQ3386 is a step-up converter with 6-channel current source designed to drive white LED arrays for large LCD panel backlight applications. The MPQ3386 uses a current mode, fixed frequency architecture. Switching frequency is selectable from 1.25MHz or 625kHz. Generates up to 50V output voltage from a 4.5V to 25V input supply. The MPQ3386 adjusts the current in each LED string to a user-set program value through an external current setting resistor. MPQ3386 applies six internal current sources to each LED string terminal for current balancing. Current matching also achieves 3% adjustment accuracy between strings. The low 600mV regulation voltage of the LED current source reduces power losses and increases efficiency. The MPQ3386 features external PWM dimming or DC input PWM dimming, allowing flexible control of backlight brightness over a wide range of ambient brightness while also avoiding the potential for audible noise of PWM dimming. The dimming PWM signal can be generated internally and the dimming frequency is programmed by an external setting capacitor.
