About This Product

■Summary

The MPQ7221 is a 16-channel LED driver that operates over a wide input voltage (VIN) range of 4.5V to 16V. The MPQ7221 utilizes 16 internal current sources on each LED string terminal. The LED current (ILED) for each channel is set by an external current-setting resistor up to 80mA current. The MPQ7221 has an integrated serial interface that allows 10 different serial addresses to be set via external resistors. This allows the MPQ7221 to support up to 10 cascaded devices to drive an LED array. Each channel can be enabled or disabled through an interface. The MPQ7221 employs direct pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming and analog dimming via separate PWM inputs for each LED channel. Each channel uses PWM dimming with 12-bit resolution and 6-bit analog dimming. ILED ramp rate and phase shift can be set to optimize EMI and EMC performance. MPQ7221 can output a refresh signal from the RFSH/FLT pin, and the frequency of the refresh signal is set via a register. Extensive protection includes open load protection, short circuit load protection, and overtemperature protection (OTP). When any protection is triggered, the fault indicator goes low and the corresponding fault register is set. The MPQ7221 is available in a QFN-24 (4mm x 4mm) package and is AECQ-100 qualified.
