About This Product

■Summary

The MPQ8873 is a monolithic DC/DC synchronous buck-boost converter. The wide input voltage (VIN) range of 2.2V to 36V is ideal for versatile automotive and industrial applications. A fully integrated four-switch power converter configuration with proprietary constant-on-time (COT) control allows the chip to flexibly change the converter topology between buck, boost, and buck-boost modes. This allows the output voltage (VOUT) to be optimized for performance and efficiency at higher, lower, or equal input voltages. It also ensures seamless transitions between adjacent operating areas. The MPQ8873 is independently controlled via a standard I2C interface. You can adjust various parameters by writing settings to the device. No hardware changes are required to adjust parameters. The switching frequency (fSW) can be set from 200kHz to 1MHz or synchronized via an external clock from 250kHz to 1MHz. Configurable frequency spread spectrum allows fSW to be periodically dithered to improve EMI performance. Extensive protection features include input undervoltage lockout (UVLO), input overvoltage protection (OVP), output OVP, output short-circuit protection (SCP), cycle-by-cycle peak current limit, and thermal shutdown. A built-in power good (PG) indicator shows whether the output voltage is properly regulated. The MPQ8873 is available in a thermally enhanced QFN-34 (4mm x 5mm) package.
