About This Product

■Summary

The MP2681B is a highly integrated Li-Ion or Li-Polymer switch-mode battery charge controller with extensive protection and status display. This part integrates a precision voltage reference and charging status display suitable for wall adapter input and cradle charger applications. MP2681B automatically detects the battery cells through the battery ID resistor and adjusts the battery voltage according to the corresponding cell configuration: 3S, 4S, 5S. The AC adapter output will then automatically adjust according to the selected battery configuration. Additionally, if the battery pack does not have an ID resistor, the charge termination voltage can be set by setting a dedicated voltage on the ID pin according to a preset VID value representing the battery configuration. MP2681B charges the battery in three phases: precharge, constant current, and constant voltage. Charging ends when the current reaches the minimum set level. Internal charging timer provides safe backup. The MP2681B provides a fixed precharge mode for deeply discharged batteries and safety features including battery temperature monitoring, NTC control, charge timeout, and fault control. The MP2681B is available in a 16-pin SOIC package.
