About This Product

■Summary

The MP2681 is a highly integrated Li-Ion or Li-Polymer switch-mode battery charge controller with extensive protection and status display. This part integrates a precision voltage reference and charging status display suitable for wall adapter input and cradle charger applications. MP2681 automatically detects the battery cells through the battery ID resistor and adjusts the battery voltage according to the corresponding cell configuration: 3S1P, 3S2P, 4S1P, 4S2P, 5S1P, 5S2P. The AC adapter output will then automatically adjust according to the selected battery configuration. Additionally, if the battery pack does not have an ID resistor, the charge termination voltage can be set by setting a dedicated voltage on the ID pin according to six preset VID values ​​representing each battery configuration. MP2681 charges the battery in three phases: precharge, constant current, and constant voltage. Charging ends when the current reaches the minimum set level. An internal charging timer provides safety backup. The MP2681 provides fixed preset modes for deeply discharged batteries and safety features including battery temperature monitoring, NTC control, charging timeout, and fault control. The MP2681 is available in a 16-pin SOIC package.
