About This Product

■Summary

The MP2639C is a highly integrated and flexible switch-mode battery charge management device for 2-cell Li-ion and Li-Polymer batteries used in a wide range of portable applications. MP2639C can charge 2-cell batteries from a 5V adapter or USB input. MP2639C can operate in three modes: charging mode, discharging mode, and sleep mode. In 2-cell applications, a 5V input charges a 2-cell battery through the MP2639C operating in step-up mode. When 5V input is not present, the 2-cell battery voltage is discharged to 5V output through MP2639C operating in step-down mode. For charging function, MP2639C automatically detects the battery voltage and charges the battery in three phases: trickle current, constant current, and constant voltage. Other features include charge termination and automatic recharging. To ensure safe operation, the MP2639C limits die temperature to a preset value of 120°C. Other safety features include input overvoltage protection (OVP), battery overvoltage protection (OVP), thermal shutdown, battery temperature monitoring, and a programmable timer to prevent long-term charging of a dead battery. The MP2639C is available in a QFN-26 (4mm x 4mm) package.
