About This Product

■Summary

The MP2650 is a highly integrated buck or boost charger IC with narrow voltage DC (NVDC) power path management and USB OTG (On-The-Go). MP2760 is designed for battery packs with 2 to 4 cells connected in series. All power MOSFETs are integrated, providing a compact system solution size. The IC has a wide input voltage (VIN) range for charging, supporting up to 21V VIN. The MP2650 has two operating modes during the powering process, boost powering mode and buck powering mode, depending on VIN and number of cells. Using the I2C interface, the MP2650 allows flexible configuration of boost, buck, and OTG mode parameters. Parameters include input current limit (IIN_LIM), VIN limit (VIN_LIM), charge current (ICHARGE), battery charge voltage regulation (VBATT_REG), and safe power transfer timer. I2C can also provide operational status of the IC through fault and status registers. To ensure safe operation, the IC limits the die temperature to a preset value of 120°C. Other safety features include input overvoltage protection (OVP), battery OVP, system OVP, thermal shutdown, battery temperature protection, and a programmed timer to prevent long-term charging of a dead battery. To comply with the IMVP8 specification, the IC has three analog output pins for system power (PSYS), input current (IAM), and battery current (IBM). There is also a processor hot indication pin (PROCHOT) for system power control. NVDC power path management adjusts the system voltage (VSYS) within a narrow DC width to provide an optimized bus voltage (VBUS) for the system bus rails. This allows the system to operate even if the battery is completely depleted or removed. The MP2650 is offered in a QFN-30 (4mm x 5mm) package.
