About This Product

■Summary

The MP2662 is a highly integrated single-cell Li-Ion/Li-Polymer battery charger with system power path management for space-constrained portable applications. The MP2662 receives input power from the AC adapter or USB port to supply the system load and charge the battery. Charger features include precharge (PRE.C), fast current (CC) and constant voltage (CV) regulation, charge termination, and automatic recharging. The power path management feature ensures continuous power to the system by automatically selecting the input, battery, or both to power the system. This feature includes a low dropout regulator from the input to the system and a 100mΩ switch from the battery to the system. Power path management separates the charging current from the system load, allowing for graceful charging termination and keeping the battery fully charged. The MP2662 provides short-circuit protection (SCP) functionality for the system by limiting current from the input to the system and from the battery to the system. This feature is especially important to prevent damage to lithium-ion batteries due to excessively high currents. When the battery voltage falls below the programmable battery ULVO threshold, on-chip battery undervoltage lockout (UVLO) interrupts the path between the battery and the system. This prevents excessive discharge of lithium-ion batteries. An integrated I2C control interface allows the MP2662 to program charging parameters such as input current limit, input minimum voltage regulation, charging current, battery regulation voltage, safety timer, and battery UVLO. The MP2662 is available in a 9-pin WCSP (1.75mm x 1.75mm) package.
