About This Product

■Summary

The MP2700 is a linear charger for 1-cell to 2-cell Li-ion, Li-Polymer, LiFePO4 batteries, and 2-cell to 6-cell NiMH batteries. The device can withstand voltages up to 26V. The MP2700 automatically charges in four phases: battery voltage (VBATT), trickle charge, pre-charge, constant current fast charge, and constant voltage charge. Once the battery is charged to full voltage, the charging current will slowly drop due to the battery's internal resistance. The MP2700 automatically terminates charging when the charging current falls below the termination current (ITERM) threshold. After finishing, the MP2700 can automatically recharge the battery when VBATT is below the recharge threshold. During every charging cycle, the MP2700 constantly monitors the chip junction temperature (TJ). When TJ exceeds a set threshold, an internal temperature regulation loop helps reduce the charging current and prevents further temperature rise of TJ. The MP2700 provides a dedicated ISET pin to set the constant current quick charge current (ICC) by connecting a resistor between ISET and ground. The MP2700 also provides a USBM pin to set the input current limit IIN_LIM before setting the input current limit (ICC). Additionally, the device also has a minimum input voltage limit (VIN_LIM) to reduce ICC in case of input power overload. The MP2700 has robust protection features including input overvoltage protection (OVP), battery OVP, charging safety timer, and battery temperature protection according to JEITA standards. MP2700 provides one open drain pin to indicate charging status. The CHG pin indicates several states of charging, including charging, termination, and fault events. The MP2700 also features flexible one-time programmable (OTP) memory to configure various charging parameters. The MP2700 is offered in a WLCSP-8 (1.05mm x 1.6mm) package.
