About This Product

■Summary

The MP5031 is a USB Power Delivery (PD) controller that complies with USB Type-C 2.0 and USB PD 3.0 specifications. The MP5031 is designed for downward-facing port (DFP) applications such as USB PD power ports. MP5031's backward compatibility supports Quick Charge 3.0 (QC3.0), Huawei Fast Charge Protocol (FCP), BC1.2, Apple's three divider modes, and 1.2V/1.2V mode Dedicated Charging Port (DCP) scheme without external user involvement. It also supports BC1.2 Charging Downstream Port (CDP) handshaking. An I2C interface and GPIO pins provide communication with external power converters. MP5031 supports PD power up to 100W. It can also support programmable power supplies (PPS). Power Data Object (PDO) list and charging protocol can be flexibly configured via I2C. I2C also selects the slave device and protection mode. Two NTC pins monitor abnormal temperature rises. Power sharing feature supports smart power budget management between two USB PD ports. Low car battery voltage reduces PDO capacity. High voltage I/O pins support short circuit protection (SCP) for DC/DC converters. The MP5031 is available in a QFN-20 (4mm x 4mm) package with wettable flanks.
