When photographing starlit skies in urban areas where there is a strong influence of light pollution, such as with sodium lamps, there is a phenomenon in which the starry sky becomes overcast due to the light pollution. In order to suppress the effects of light pollution, absorption type filters with a light pollution cutting function have become increasingly popular in recent years. On the other hand, when the point image of a bright star is small and unnoticeable, especially when photographing the starry sky with a wide-angle lens, it is popular to use a soft filter to emphasize the star. Many people use a light pollution cut filter and a soft filter at the same time to obtain the effects of each at the same time. However, when two filters are mounted on top of each other, there are disadvantages such as a decrease in resolution and vignetting of the four corners of the image due to the filter frame. In the first place, it is troublesome to put two filters on top of each other. ``Star Enhancer'', a new product developed by Cytron Japan, is a new product that has been specially treated to produce a slight soft effect on the surface of an absorption type light pollution cut filter. It is possible to obtain two functions of light pollution reduction and soft expression with one filter. Since it is an absorption type filter, there is almost no color unevenness between the center and periphery of the image even when using a wide-angle lens. Since the soft effect is extremely weak, it minimizes the impact on the landscape on the ground, allowing for natural expressions. Manufactured at Cytron Japan Niigata Tainai Factory (Tainai City, Niigata Prefecture).
