■Summary

This is a high-resolution dendrometer that can be installed and operated non-destructively on branches and trunks with diameters of 18 mm to 50 mm. The structure is based on the MIJ-02LM type 2, which has been verified for long-term stable operation outdoors, and is equipped with an arrow head stay that supports the mid range. The unique shape of the stay, which narrows the cross section of the sample from three directions with a 120° division, and offsets the fastening part to the sample, allows the plant to disperse and minimize stress caused by attachment of foreign objects. This stress-free structure also has other benefits, as it eliminates almost all the time it takes for the sensor to adjust to the sample, allowing it to output measurement data that is useful for analysis immediately after installation. Another advantage of the hammerhead is its ability to geometrically amplify resolution. Thin trunks and stems generally have a radius displacement in the range of ± several tens of um/day. It can be determined that the measurement resolution required to confirm the change is 1/100 of that, 0.1 um. Depending on the resolution of the data logger to which the LMM is connected, a resolution of 0.00911um/0.01mV can be obtained. This resolution exceeds that of the LM type. The proof is in Arrowhead. This stay has the effect of increasing the resolution geometrically, and the resolution becomes 1/ (1+SQR2) with the LM ratio of the direct drive type. The annual change in diameter is typically 10 mm/year in particularly fast-growing tropical rainforests, and several mm/year in temperate Japan. LMM has a measurement range of φ18 to 50 mm, so that range is sufficient. Direct indicators of individual carbon fixation and production can be obtained, and values ​​for entire forests and fields can be estimated by scaling.
