About This Product

■SummaryA dendrometer is a sensor that measures the growth rate of plants, and has long been used to measure both vertical and horizontal growth (growth around the stem circumference). Although primitive, a typical method is to wrap a belt-shaped tape measure around the trunk of a tree and visually read the seasonal changes.
This method has the advantage of being able to measure a large number of trees because it is low cost, but on the other hand, it requires regular checks by humans, which requires even more labor as the number of trees increases.

On the other hand, MIJ-02type3 is a device that electrically reads this displacement. In combination with a data logger, it is possible to automatically read both diurnal and seasonal changes in hypertrophic growth at short intervals over a long period of time. It also enables stable measurement in μm units, which is not possible with visual inspection types.

■Features・By using a potentiometer with no backlash, it is possible to read even the diurnal changes in expansion and contraction.
・Output is ratiometric. Avoids the temperature characteristics of the potentiometer itself
・Temperature characteristics are reduced to the utmost by a method that cancels out the linear thermal expansion coefficients of the shaft and fixing nail.
・Even though it is a direct-acting type, it is waterproof and reduces the static friction and dynamic friction of the shaft.
・Spring constant can be set low because friction is minimal
