■UN-SCAN-IT gel: Gel analysis software
UN-SCAN-IT gel analysis software is a tool that allows you to use your scanner like a gel densitometer to automatically analyze gel electrophoresis images. UN‑SCAN‑IT gel digitizes and analyzes electrophoresis gels in most image formats (JPG, TIFF, GIF, BMP, PNG, etc.) acquired with a scanner, digital camera, or other means.
UN‑SCAN‑IT gels can quantify Western blots, agarose gels, PCR gels, TLC, and more. In addition to gel analysis capabilities, the UN‑SCAN‑IT gel also features digitization of all (x,y) graphs included in a regular UN‑SCAN‑IT.
If you wanted to estimate the intensity or location of a gel band, you would hold two gels up to a light and compare the band location and intensity, or wait in line for your turn to use an expensive gel densitometer system.
