About This Product
■It is possible to give wood an anti-termite effect to protect buildings from termites, an antiseptic effect to prevent rotting, and an effect to prevent ignition.
SOUFA is an aqueous solution containing borate as its main ingredient, and can be used to impart anti-termite, antiseptic, and flame retardant properties to wood in a variety of ways. Treatment methods include application (brushing/roller coating), spraying, and soaking (soaking).Any of the methods listed on the left is fine.
*Infiltration treatment is required for nonflammability treatment.
■Why is this possible?
A. Boric acid, which is effective as a preservative and anti-termite agent, previously only dissolves in water at a rate of about 4%, but we have successfully made it nano-sized using special technology. It is now possible to dissolve more than 30% in water, and a highly concentrated borate aqueous solution, SOUFA, has been completed. When this highly concentrated aqueous borate solution is infiltrated or applied to wood, the nanoparticles penetrate into the wood.
These particles combine with the cellulose inside the wood, and when dried, form a strong bond and form a glassy film. This film allows the material to carbonize without igniting even when brought close to fire. This film has a very strong bond and is extremely difficult to dissolve in water, so it eliminates the weak point of boric acid-based chemicals that leach into water, and can be highly effective even when applied outdoors.
■SOUFA's high nonflammability and flame retardancy
When a SOUFA-treated component dries, the SOUFA components combine with the cellulose in the wood to form a glassy film on the component. By wrapping the material, it prevents ignition.
There are many flame-retardant materials on the market, including bromine-based and flame-retardant polymer-based materials, but this material exhibits the best non-combustibility performance among these. Generally, to make wood non-combustible, 400 to 600 kg of non-combustible liquid is required per cubic meter, but SOUFA can be made non-combustible by infiltrating 200 kg. Since the particles are nano-sized, there is no need to apply pressure to infiltrate them.
All you have to do is soak the wood in SOUFA. SOUFA does not emit toxic gases even when heated.
