- Shimada Kowari's wood chips are made from domestic coniferous trees such as cypress, cedar, and Aomori hiba. Coniferous trees are light and soft and have been used as wood for housing since ancient times, and the refreshing scent that everyone feels in newly built homes is a scent that is very familiar to Japanese people.
・The true nature of the scent is the essential oil component contained in the tree. Hinoki wood mainly contains terpenes, cedar wood contains sesquiterpenes, and Aomori Hiba wood contains natural scent components such as hinokitiol.
・Japanese people have long used cypress for cypress baths, cedar for sake barrels, and Aomori hiba for the pillars of their houses, taking advantage of their antiseptic and fragrant effects.

■Wood scent and health-The scent of trees such as cypress has been shown to have beneficial effects on the body, such as acting on the parasympathetic nervous system of the autonomic nervous system, promoting the generation of alpha waves in the brain, regulating breathing, and relieving insomnia.
