About This Product

The interior looks like a painting, framed with Mino ware tiles. It conveys the unique texture of ceramics.

■Tojiki

A versatile tile with 122 patterns. These Mino-yaki tiles can be used for different purposes than tiles that are normally placed on the floor or wall, such as by hanging them on the wall to enjoy the "patterns" or using them as pot holders for kettles, etc. Mino ware, which has a history of over 1,300 years, is so diverse in colors and shapes that it is said to be characterized by its lack of distinctive features. This product is an unglazed product that has been painted with pigments (paints) using an underglaze copperplate transfer technique. The copperplate transfer technique is a technique perfected in Mino in 1889, in which a thin Japanese paper with a pattern printed with color pigments is pasted onto the base using water, and the Japanese paper is peeled off to create a picture. You can express hand-painted shading and delicate patterns, and you can also print patterns on the sides and curves. Because each piece is made by hand, the finished product may have individuality (expression) such as uneven coloring or uneven painting.
