On December 14, 2018, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism announced that they had amended some of the orders regarding road signs, division lines, and road markings in order to introduce chain regulations. Chain restrictions are implemented in the event of unusual snowfall, such as when a special heavy snow warning or emergency announcement regarding heavy snow is issued. When chains are restricted, tire chains will be checked before entering the restricted section, and vehicles without chains will be prohibited from passing through the restricted section.
