On December 14, 2018, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism announced that it had revised a portion of its ordinance regarding road signs, dividing lines, and road markings to implement chain regulations. Chain regulations are implemented when there is exceptional snowfall that warrants a special heavy snow warning or an emergency announcement regarding heavy snow. During chain regulations, vehicles will be checked for tire chain installation before the restricted section, and vehicles without chains will be prohibited from entering the restricted section. For safety reasons, we recommend preparing and carrying tire chains early.
