About This Product

■What is Luster?

Luster is an open source, high-performance, distributed parallel file system used in large-scale compute clusters. By running multiple file servers connected via a broadband network in parallel, it can quickly process and transfer large amounts of data, and has high performance that can handle datasets on the scale of several petabytes (PB). It is scalable to support tens of thousands of client nodes by increasing the number of servers and disks in the system to suit your needs. By introducing Luster in this way, it is possible to shorten the time it takes to obtain calculation results and use new analysis methods, which can be expected to improve productivity and obtain new knowledge. In a large-scale Luster configuration, the server for storing metadata (MDS: Meta Data Server) and the server for storing data (OSS: Object Storage Server) are implemented as independent servers, but even in a small-scale configuration, If you do so, you can build a metadata server and a data server on the same server, making it inexpensive, simple, and easy to manage. Additionally, Luster is an open source software product that is not only free of charge, but also has few hardware dependencies and limitations, and can be built on an inexpensive Linux server with a standard configuration. This allows for flexible configurations that suit your budget.
