■V-Ray5forformZ new feature overview

V-Ray5forformZ is a major update to V-RayforformZ (which was based on V-Ray3). This double update includes all features of V-Ray4 (also known as V-RayNext) and V-Ray5. In addition to improved efficiency and stability, it has the following key features:

■Improvement of FrameBuffer

A newly redesigned VFB (V-RayFrameBuffer) has been introduced. New icons, a cleaner design, an improved layout, and new features like LightMix. LightMix allows you to adjust the brightness and tint of lighting without re-rendering. This feature can save you a lot of time when adjusting the final lighting balance of your scene. You can also add lens effects and adjust the denoiser (noise removal function) as a post-processing process.

■RTX hardware support

V-Ray5 now has a dedicated processing function that uses NVIDIA's RTX GPU ray tracing hardware to further accelerate production rendering on Windows. The benefits of RTX are difficult to predict as they vary depending on scene components and shader complexity, but certain scenes can see significant speedups. The increased performance with RTX cards comes from a combination of dedicated ray tracing hardware and the APIs needed to access it.

■Adaptive dome light

Adaptive dome lights can significantly improve rendering speed. In addition, it is no longer necessary to create skylight portals (fake sunlight placed near openings in indoor spaces such as windows), which was previously necessary. Adaptive dome lights automatically determine which parts of your scene to sample and which parts not to sample. This makes configuration very efficient and easy. The Adaptive option is turned on by default in V-Ray5.
