Inspection to ensure that there are no radioactive substances mixed in with scrap is essential when receiving scrap. To keep radioactive materials out of your factory, install an advanced Thermo Fisher Scientific ASM series radiation detection system to monitor radiation at the entrance when receiving scrap.

■Main featuresMore than 500 Thermo Fisher Scientific radiation detection systems (ASM series) have been delivered worldwide. The ASM series is usually installed on the approach road to the truck scale. The system controls radiation detectors, signal processors, scrap vehicle sensors, operator consoles, traffic signals, etc. using Windows-based software.

The system is very simple: it continuously measures radiation levels in the natural world before the vehicle arrives, and automatically takes measurements when the vehicle passes the detector. When a vehicle is contaminated with a radiation source, the system's detector detects the radiation from the source and converts it into electrical pulses. After performing various corrections such as background and radiation shielding effects, an alarm is generated if radiation exceeding the background is detected.
