■Basic principle: Principle of measuring high-order phase difference

The PA-200's upper limit for retardation measurement is 130nm, but there was a request to evaluate the surface distribution of an even larger retardation. Therefore, we developed a newly developed wide-range polarized light image sensor and succeeded in doubling the measurement limit to approximately 260 nm.A wide-range polarized light image sensor not only has a wide measurement range but also a wide operating wavelength range. It has the following characteristics. The WPA-200 enables multi-wavelength measurements by combining a wide-range polarized image sensor, a variable wavelength filter, and a broadband LED light source.The results measured at multiple wavelengths are compared using a rigorous optical calculation algorithm. By performing calculations, it is now possible to measure even larger phase differences. Operating the WPA-200 is as simple as the PA-200. First, photograph the light source without placing the object to be measured. All you have to do is place the sample on it and click the measurement button to measure the birefringence distribution over the entire surface of the sample one after another.
