■Basic principle of confocal optical system

When in focus, the camera detects it as a confocal image. When out of focus (when there is no object in focus), the camera will not detect it.

■High contrast/sample with steps (printed circuit board copper wire, etc.)

In addition to two-dimensional measurement using bright field images, it is also possible to perform bulk height measurement within the field of view using a confocal optical system. Edges that are difficult to detect in bright field can be clearly detected with confocal imaging.
