About This Product

■Features

Recently, optogenetics has attracted attention as a method for observing neural activity. Among these, research is actively being conducted to directly observe neural activity in moving animals in real time. Research is underway to incorporate various fluorescent protein molecules, which are improved versions of the green fluorescent protein discovered by Dr. Osamu Shimomura, who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2008, into neurons to process information within neural networks. . We offer the ``Biofluorescence Imaging Lens, CLH Series'' as a lens ideal for observing the fluorescence emitted from such fluorescent proteins. By using the CLH series lenses, it is possible to observe neural activity very clearly.

■Differences between the CLH series and conventional imaging lenses

The imaging lenses that we have been selling are mainly optimized and designed for endoscope use. In applications such as endoscopes, the operator can adjust the distance between the tissue being observed and the tip of the endoscope, so the resolution at the center is as high as possible. In contrast, with lenses used for "free moving animal", "in vivo", fluorescence imaging, once the lens is fixed to the animal's skull, the distance between the tissue and the lens cannot be adjusted. . Furthermore, the tissue to be observed is located almost (several hundred um) near the lens end face, and the observation field of view is limited by the lens diameter (the lens diameter is almost synonymous with the observable range). For this reason, in the newly developed CLH series lenses that we have developed in cooperation with Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd., we have adjusted the aberration characteristics around the lens to make the entire lens surface (~field of view) as clear and distortion-free as possible. I'm trying to make it happen.

■CLH series product specifications

The CLH series gradient index lenses are ideal for "in vivo" imaging of "free moving animals". The CLH series lenses are ideal for observing animals' cranial nerves. Please feel free to contact us as we can accommodate various customizations such as the distance between the lens and tissue (working distance (WD), applicable wavelength, lens length, etc.).
