About This Product

Tests the softening temperature of materials overview

■Special regulations apply to thermoplastic resins used as insulators to hold housings or charging mechanisms of electrical appliances.

If the material deforms due to heat, the insulation distance may be reduced or live parts may be exposed, leading to dangers such as electric shock. The Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (Den-an Law) requires that ``the material of the appliance must be able to withstand the temperatures under normal usage conditions.'' Furthermore, JIS and IEC require that thermoplastic insulation materials that are in direct contact with hazardous voltage parts have resistance to abnormal heat. The ball pressure test is a test to confirm that the product can withstand this temperature. The test method was to apply a 2 kg load to a steel ball with a diameter of 5 mm (R = 2.5 mm) for 1 hour in a temperature environment 40°C ± 2°C higher than the maximum temperature rise value of the normal temperature rise test. If it is 2mm or less, it is considered heat resistant.
