About This Product

When the Zn raw material is heated and evaporated while supplying oxygen gas, the Zn vapor reacts with the oxygen gas, producing ZnO. Hexagonal ZnO has a very fast C-axis growth rate, resulting in rod-like growth. On the other hand, since the crystal lattice constant of the C-plane of ZnO is close to that of a sapphire or silicon substrate, the C-plane (perpendicular to the C-axis) of ZnO tends to become parallel to the substrate during epitaxial growth. This means that the rods will grow perpendicular to the substrate. It is known that nanorods grow more easily when a thin Au film is deposited on a substrate. This is a phenomenon attributed to the VLS growth mechanism, similar to other fibrous materials (CNTs, Au nanowires, SIC whiskers, etc.). This phenomenon allows nanorods to grow on substrates other than sapphire.

This is a tube furnace type (φ30mm) thermal CVD device that grows ZnO nanorods on a substrate.
