About This Product

Ethanol is one of the most convenient raw materials for the production of carbon nanotubes. It has the characteristic that SWCNT and highly crystalline CNT are easily generated. In addition, because it decomposes at a lower temperature than hydrocarbon gas and has strong reducing action and reactivity of catalysts, it is possible to use catalytic elements (Ni, Fe, Co) in bulk alloy materials such as SUS and NiCu as nanoparticles with catalytic action. It can be precipitated and directly grown into carbon nanotubes or carbon nanofibers. Vertically aligned carbon nanotubes with high crystallinity can be grown on various substrates (silicon, quartz, stainless steel, metals, ceramics, etc.) and carriers. Compact in size and easy to operate, the entire process takes about 30 minutes. By using a transparent glass chamber, it is also possible to directly observe the moment of CNT formation. Note that in order to grow aligned CNTs, it is generally necessary to deposit a catalyst film on the sample substrate in advance, with the exception of some alloy substrates such as Ni and Fe. We also provide substrates with catalyst membranes as consumables. Catalytic film deposition can also be performed using your own film deposition equipment. If you would like a self-contained system from catalyst formation to CNT growth, we recommend MPCNT-Premium or high-performance vacuum evaporation equipment.

This is a device that uses ethanol as a raw material to synthesize vertically aligned carbon nanotubes on the surface of various substrates.
