About This Product

Carbon microcoil [CMC] is a coiled carbon material that resembles a spring made of carbon. Because the coil diameter is several microns, it is called a microcoil. Coils with an average diameter of less than a micron are also called nanocoils, but the name is not standardized. We also refer to nanocoils as microcoils. Although CMC's individual conductivity and mechanical strength are not as strong as CNT, its conductivity as a bulk material is higher than that of CNT. Additionally, due to the unique spring shape of CMC, resistivity changes as it expands and contracts, making it suitable for use as a pressure sensor material. Additionally, because of its shape, it has excellent electromagnetic wave absorption properties, especially in the high frequency band, and is being considered for application in electromagnetic wave shielding materials and crucibles for high frequency heating. In addition, in CMC fired at ultra-high temperatures (2,800°C), all of the amorphous carbon turns into graphite, which has high conductivity comparable to graphite and has a graphite crystal structure, so it can be used as a negative electrode material for lithium-ion batteries. We can produce high-temperature fired products according to your request. Another feature is that, as shown in an optical microscope, the coil pitch falls exactly in the wavelength range of visible light, so a light diffraction effect appears, making some parts appear colorful under the microscope. CMC has the function of a kind of diffraction grating, and in the microscopic world, it is possible to create beautiful rainbow colors in pitch black.
