About This Product

■Evolved Microfloat® Tapper series

Unlike conventional telescopic tappers (expansion/contraction of 5 mm or more), this is a tapper exclusively for synchronous tapping with slight expansion/contraction (expansion/contraction of 0.5 mm). The structure (patented) using a special elastic body expands and contracts slightly and absorbs the load (thrust force) applied to the tap and workpiece.

■Thrust force is reduced by using Micro Float® Tapper. Effective for extending tool life and improving screw accuracy.

The conventional telescopic tapper was a mechanism that absorbed the "synchronization error between rotation and feed" of the machine. In contrast, the slight expansion and contraction of MicroFloat® is a mechanism that absorbs the load applied to the tap and workpiece during machining with a machine with synchronous tapping control. The load (thrust force) applied to the tap changes depending on the shape of the tap, but there is a particularly large fluctuation in the thrust force at the moment the tap bites into the workpiece and when the tap reverses. Applying a large thrust force can reduce the accuracy of the thread and shorten the life of the tap. In some cases, the use of the Microfloat® tapper reduced the thrust force to about 1/3 compared to tapping with a collet chuck. As a result of reducing the thrust force, we succeeded in improving the thread surface accuracy (photo below) and extending the life of the tap.
