■Alerts at the right timeIf the CO2 concentration is high, measures such as ventilation are required. It is necessary to be able to alert facility managers to corrective actions at appropriate times and frequencies, and to monitor whether corrective measures are being implemented correctly. CO2 monitoring alone is not enough to prevent coronavirus. Coordination with other monitoring is also required, such as monitoring crowding conditions using cameras, etc.

■Actual situation of CO2 sensorsResearch has shown that many commercially available inexpensive CO2 sensors react with alcohol and other substances and cannot accurately measure CO2 concentration. (CO2 sensor survey conducted by the University of Electro-Communications) Therefore, in November last year, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry issued a notification titled "Guidelines for the selection of carbon dioxide concentration measuring instruments," which states that CO2 sensors should be selected for corona countermeasures. Minimum requirements for sensors are specified.
