■Summary

Smartec temperature sensors are sophisticated silicon temperature sensors with digital output. The modulated duty cycle output from one terminal can be input directly to all types of microcontrollers without going through an A/D converter. The measurement temperature range is -45℃ to +130℃. It has a high resolution of 0.005℃ or less and can be applied to high precision applications. Various sensor package shapes are possible, including TO18, TO92, and TO220, and the SOIC type has high productivity. Special packaging is also available upon request.

■Product features

The Smart temperature sensor has a temperature-linear duty cycle modulated square wave voltage output from -45°C to +130°C with an error accuracy of less than 1.2°C. Over the range -30°C to +100°C, the error accuracy is better than 0.7°C, and the linear error is better than 0.2°C (model TO18). Smart temperature sensors perform chip calibration and burn-in during testing. The integrated modulator allows the sensor unit to be efficiently connected to a low-cost microcontroller without the need for an (onboard) A/D converter or external control controller. Smart temperature sensors have digital outputs and on-chip calibration for cost savings and performance advantages. Applications using multiple sensors can easily be multiplexed using a corresponding number of microprocessor inputs or by using a low-cost digital multiplexer. No calibration is required during use, resulting in optimal cost savings during production and after-sales service.
