About This Product
■How to use diamond wheels and CBN wheels
・Generally, non-ferrous metals are called diamonds, and ferrous metals are called CBN.
・Diamond has a Knoop hardness of approximately 8,000 to 10,000, which is approximately twice as hard as CBN's Knoop hardness of approximately 4,500.
・Thus, most workpieces can be machined, but when the workpiece material reaches high temperatures, the carbon and iron that make up the diamond react, leading to tool wear, making normal machining difficult.
・Therefore, diamond wheels are mainly used for grinding non-ferrous materials such as cemented carbide.
・On the other hand, although CBN is inferior in hardness to diamond, it has a heat resistance of approximately 1,200 to 1,400 degrees Celsius, which is much higher than diamond, so it is used for grinding ferrous materials such as hardened steel, which diamond is not good at. Masu.
■Work materials suitable for diamond wheels
Non-ferrous materials such as cemented carbide, glass, ceramics, etc.
■Work materials suitable for CBN wheels
Steel materials such as carbon steel, high speed tool steel (SKH), bearing steel (SUJ), chromium molybdenum steel, etc.
■About the material of the base metal (core)
・The role of the base metal (core) is not only to hold the abrasive grain layer firmly in place, but also to release the pressure applied during processing.
-Aluminum is usually used because it is light and easy to process.
・Depending on the application and processing conditions, the material may be iron or ceramic.
