About This Product
This is a product made from SOUFA in powder form to make it easier to use for technology development, etc. White powder, water soluble. It can be dissolved in hot water over 60℃. It becomes transparent when dissolved in water. (*Contains no organic solvents.) A pure boron flame retardant that does not contain any additives such as penetrants or concentration maintenance agents, and is characterized by its extremely low toxicity and ease of handling. Non-halogen, non-phosphorus, and non-heavy metal.
Expected technical applications include flame retardant resins in general (hard urethane/soft urethane flame retardants, plastic flame retardants, adhesive flame retardants, masterbatches, compounds, etc.), wood flame retardants, noncombustible paper, flame retardants, etc. Possible materials include flame retardant paper, flame retardant cardboard, flame retardant fibers, flame retardant leather products, and flame retardant cellulose nanofibers. This technology is expected to be applied to other products in the future.
■About Best Boron
・There is no decomposition temperature. For inorganic matter.
・Melting point is around 800℃.
・There is no softening temperature. It becomes soft at around the melting point of 800℃.
- Moisture absorption varies depending on storage conditions, but is approximately 10-15%.
・It is difficult to measure specific gravity accurately because it is amorphous, but true specific gravity is approximately 1.5 to 1.9. Bulk specific gravity has not been measured.
- Regarding corrosion of metals under high temperature and high pressure, it is generally considered to be less corrosive as it is neutral.
- Does not dissolve in solvents other than water. Flame retardant effects cannot be expected because they react with alcohols such as ethanol and glycerin to form boric acid esters.
・Not conductive. Although the charging property is unconfirmed, there is a possibility that it will be charged with some static electricity.
- Compatibility with plastic is currently being evaluated. Because it is water-soluble, it is difficult to mix with resin by itself, so it is necessary to apply dispersion technology. If it dries to remove moisture, it will disperse.
・Particle size is approximately 50 to 200 μm.
- Even after absorbing moisture, it will return to its original state if it dries.
・Dissolves in hot water over 60℃. There is no change in composition after dissolution.
