■Product overview

USB3.2Gen2 is approximately twice as fast as conventional USB3.0, and smoothly performs large capacity transfers of up to 10Gbps. The SSG03 series is a USB optical hybrid extension cable that uses this high-speed USB3.2 standard. Maximize the transfer specs of your USB device by extending it with an optical cable. The SSG03 series is backward compatible and also supports USB3.2Gen1 and USB2.0.

■10Gbps high-speed transfer

USB3.2Gen2 has a high-speed transfer of 10Gbps, which is approximately twice as fast as USB3.2Gen1 and approximately 20 times as fast as USB2.0. The SSG03 series makes it possible to extend this high-speed transfer over long distances up to 50m. However, if the connected device is USB3.2Gen1 (5G) or USB2.0 (480M), communication will be at the speed of the connected device. In addition, the theoretical transfer speed of USB3.2Gen2 is 10Gbps, but please note that actual measured values ​​vary depending on the USB device. Therefore, even if the SSG03 series supports USB3.2Gen2, the transfer speed depends on the connected USB device. The cable part has a small diameter of 4.8mm, is resistant to bending and tangling, and is easy to handle. Since it is an optical cable, there is no need for shielding or an amplifier.

■Works with “self-powered” equipment

USB devices that operate solely on the power supply from a computer or USB hub are called ``bus-powered,'' and those that operate on the USB device's own power supply are called ``self-powered.'' The SSG03 series extends "self-powered" USB devices. For example, self-powered HDDs and cameras can be directly connected to the SSG03 series to fully utilize their transfer speeds. So, what about bus-powered external storage devices that don't have an external power source? In this case, you can use a self-powered USB hub with an external power source to make the USB3.2 Gen2 function work.
