About This Product

■Product overviewUSB3.2Gen2 is approximately 20 times faster than the existing USB2.0, and smoothly transfers large amounts of data. The SSB05 series is a USB optical hybrid extension cable that uses this high-speed USB3.2Gen2 standard.

Maximize the transfer specs of your USB device by extending it with an optical cable. The SSB05 series is backward compatible and also supports USB2.0.

■SSB05 series is male-female specificationThe extension source (source side) of the SSB05 series is a USB Type-A male, and the extension destination (device side) is a Type-A female. Since the extension end is female, you can connect USB devices directly or connect USB devices other than Type-A.

In addition, the small diameter of 4.5 mm makes it resistant to bending and tangling, and easy to handle (bending radius 48 mm, tensile strength 10 kg). Since it is an optical cable, there is no need for shielding or an amplifier.

■USB “bus power” and “self power”There are two types of USB devices: devices that are powered by a computer or USB hub, and devices that are powered by an external power source such as an AC adapter. Devices that operate using only the power supply from a computer or USB hub are called "bus-powered," and devices that operate using the USB device's own power supply are called "self-powered."

Keyboards, mice, USB memories, barcode readers, etc. are connected to a computer's USB connection port or USB hub, and operate using power supplied from there. On the other hand, there are many devices that do not work even if they are directly connected to a computer, and printers and external HDDs that consume large amounts of power require an external power source (*1).
 (*1) Some external HDDs and USB hubs are bus-powered and can only be powered by a computer.

Both bus-powered and self-powered devices can be connected directly. However, depending on the connected source device, it may not be possible to supply sufficient power.
In this case, the operation of the device may become unstable, so we have equipped the extension device connector with a power supply port that can supply power from an external source.

Use a commercially available USB power cable and USB power adapter to power the device. The maximum power supply is 2A. (Even if the power adapter is 3A, the power supplied is 2A)
