About This Product

■Sustainable food packaging

MAP, vacuum, and skin packaging contribute significantly to ensuring food safety and extending shelf life. To protect the environment with sustainable solutions, GEA is working to reduce the use of plastic in food packaging. An example of a smart solution: the cardboard-based GEA food tray uses this renewable and recyclable resource as a carrier for a relatively thin bottom film. The thermoforming process combines the two to create a sturdy yet sustainable tray that is then sealed to create high-quality food packaging. This allows manufacturers to become more sustainable while ensuring food safety and reducing waste.

■Main uses

Resource-saving GEA Food Trays are high-quality MAP food packaging manufactured using a form-fill-seal process to safely store food products such as meat, meat substitutes, seafood, dairy products and bakery products. Main benefits

■Sustainable and resource-saving alternative to MAP or vacuum packs made entirely from plastic

- Save up to 80% in plastic materials compared to traditional food packaging - Can be completely recycled and made from recyclable materials (paper and film) ・Easy separation of paper and plastic parts ・Fully recyclable and sustainable

■ Eye-catching design opportunities

- Cardboard allows all kinds of printing options to make the product more attractive and leaves space for additional printed information even in small quantities. ・For use with GEA Power Pack and Power Pack Plus thermoforming machines

■Specifications: GEA food tray components and applications

GEA food trays consist of a prefabricated cardboard tray, a thin film inlay and a thin top film made from a single material. The thermoforming machine only requires adding modules for de-nesting the trays and loading the trays into the thermoforming packaging machine.
