About This Product

■VARIVENT® vacuum valve

VARIVENT® vacuum valves are designed to hygienically protect tanks from vacuum. Protection is provided even when vacuum conditions exceed -2.5 mbar. To reduce cleaning effort and protect the valve disc from sticking, the seat ring should have a non-stick coating. Used elastomer seals should be FDA compliant. VARIVENT® vacuum valves require only a short response when a vacuum is created. The valve also features a safety seal in pressurized conditions.

■Valve function

Hydraulic sizing of vacuum valves always assumes complete evacuation. Vacuum protection is not provided during thermal or cold cleaning. If a vacuum condition occurs in the system, the valve disc will rise due to the vacuum. Incoming air flows from the bottom of the valve through the top. This provides optimal protection against contamination by incoming contaminants. The valve has a self-draining design. VARIVENT® vacuum valves have optional enhancements such as proximity switch feedback, pneumatic lifting actuators, and heaters.

■Application example

VARIVENT® vacuum valves are often used in conjunction with VARITOP® tank safety systems. For this reason, it is mainly applied in the brewing industry. An optional heater prevents temperatures from dropping below freezing, allowing safe use outdoors. Weather protection is required.
