■Development history of flare seawall
On Japan's coasts, human assets behind the coast are damaged by storm surges, waves, and overtopping waves caused by typhoons and cyclones. In addition, some of the seawalls on coastal roads have collapsed and the roads have become completely passable, making it difficult to secure detours and causing social losses.
Up until now, the development of coastal protection facilities has been implemented not only to protect the coast from disasters, but also in 1999, when the ``Coast Act'' was revised, the aim was to improve and preserve the coastal environment and ensure the appropriate use of public beaches. There is a need to comprehensively promote coastal conservation to ensure harmony. In addition, we are required to aim to create coastlines that take advantage of local characteristics and move hand in hand with the local community.
Flare seawalls ensure the safety of houses, important facilities, and roads in coastal areas, and also lower the height of the top of the seawall, allowing beautiful views of the coastline and preserving the original form of the coast (sandy beach, reef). It is now possible to preserve and use the coast comfortably. Flare seawalls were developed to protect the infrastructure from natural disasters, maintain hydrophilicity, and protect the natural environment.
