About This Product

■Role of land electric reel

When connecting cables to supply power from onshore power equipment to onboard power equipment at anchor, the cable can be protected and safely stored by installing a cable reel on land or inside the ship. When a ship is affected by tides while at anchor, the ship's hull floats and sinks. Under these conditions, the cables can become pulled or tangled, creating a dangerous situation. By using a shore power reel, it can withstand the effects of tides and store cables safely. Container storage type and exposed deck installation type are available.

■What is the land power supply system?

The shore power supply system is abbreviated as ``shore power'' in Japan and Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) overseas, and is widely recognized in the marine industry. In order to reduce exhaust gases and air pollutants (CO2, NOx, SOx, PM) from ships at anchor, this is a system that stops the onboard generator engine by supplying land-based commercial power to the ship.

■Environmental regulations

CARB regulations (restrictions on sulfur content in fuel oil) established by the California Air Resources Board in the United States apply not only to automobiles but also to ships. It was enacted in 2009 and has become progressively stricter, and shore power supply systems are used to reduce emissions. Enactment has been strengthened in California since 2023. China is also tightening its emission regulations, and some vehicles are introducing shore power supply systems, scrubbers/exhaust gas cleaning equipment, improved fuels, and LNG (new fuel). Overseas electric power companies have already begun to introduce it to their shore power equipment as an effort to reduce exhaust gas from thermal power generation.
