About This Product

■MRVivoLVA is a compact MRI system for small laboratory animals that uses permanent magnets.

We use the world's strongest permanent magnet (1.5 Tesla) using neodymium. Permanent magnets have extremely low energy costs and are maintenance-free. We also controlled the quality and performance of the permanent magnet and succeeded in creating a magnetic field of maximum strength for MRI.

■What is MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)?

Because it utilizes the resonance phenomenon of hydrogen atoms (1H) in living organisms, it is an extremely suitable device for observing organs, brains, and soft tissues that are rich in water and fat.

■What MRI can do

Images with various contrasts can be obtained by changing the imaging method. ・T1-weighted image: water appears black and tumor appears slightly white. Suitable for viewing anatomical structures. ・T2-weighted image: Water appears white and fat appears black. Suitable for viewing lesions.

■T1/T2 weighted image

MRI can obtain images with completely different contrasts by changing the parameters during imaging. With MRI, it is possible to obtain the desired image by setting the necessary conditions such as the imaging target and the length of imaging time.

■Mouse brain: Manganese

Manganese-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MEMRI): As a paramagnetic substance, manganese ions (Mn2+) have the property of shortening the proton relaxation time (T1), and can be absorbed into cells by passing through calcium (Ca2+) channels. This is an MRI imaging method that takes advantage of the fact that when Mn2+ is taken into the body, the local Mn2+ concentration increases and T1 contrast increases. It is also used as a method to visualize neural activity-dependent changes (functional imaging) using MRI.

■Quantitative MRI

It is possible to quantitatively image the "T1" and "T2" values, which are the unique values of water and fat molecules that make up living organisms. Quantitative evaluation of biomolecules is a powerful tool in disease analysis and contrast agent quantitative analysis.
