About This Product
A malware intrusion detector is a mechanism that can detect at an early stage whether or not malicious software has infiltrated a real-time application, and can issue a warning in the event of an intrusion. The advantage of a malware intrusion detector is that it does not care how the malware was introduced, and it does not require information about the malware.
The idea behind the intrusion detector proposed by SIAMO is that if malware is successful in running on a system, it will change the software's activity. Intrusion detectors detect changes in activity that actually change when malware adds activity or deactivates a piece of running software.
■The intrusion detector operates in two steps.
1. Use machine learning to characterize the normal activity of software running in embedded real-time applications depending on the parameters that influence it. Training is done as a preliminary step for an intrusion detector and mainly takes input from an emulated environment. The first choice for implementing an intrusion detector is generated software code that runs within or in parallel with the embedded code. In some cases, hardware implementation is also considered.
2. The model is launched at specified times during the execution of the embedded application and its results are compared with the actual registered activities. Intrusion detectors trace data to investigate abnormal activity.
