■Characteristics of Bakelite

You can see that PL-PEV has an extremely low water absorption rate compared to paper-baked PL-PEM. Since it is a rate, it varies depending on the thickness. If you compare a 1mm thick plate with a 50mm thick plate, even though the speed at which water penetrates is the same, the weight ratio is different. Therefore, there is no product number grade equivalent to PL-PEV for fabric baked goods. From this perspective, paper baking is used for insulation and cloth baking is used for machinery. PL-PEV is also called a first-class bake product. Comparing PL-PEM and PL-PEV, when cutting with a saw, the saw teeth of PL-PEV do not last long. PL-PEV is often used in railways. After all, it is a material with a long history. It is thought that bake was the only insulating material available at the time when steam locomotives were powered by electricity.
