Most of the oil is recovered in the granulation layer, and the difficult emulsified wastewater is adsorbed in the ceramic layer. Under the Water Pollution Control Act, wastewater containing harmful substances such as oil is prohibited from penetrating underground, and in the case of groundwater contamination, measures to purify the groundwater are ordered. Additionally, regulations on drainage to rivers and sewers have become stricter.
