About This Product

■Trochoid processing

Trochoid machining is a machining method that combines overlapping circumferential orbits and linear motion, making it possible to machine grooves using the concept of side machining. By maximizing the depth of cut in the axial direction (2xd1 to 5xd1) and reducing the depth of cut in the radial direction, thin chips are formed just like in finishing machining, achieving trouble-free and stable machining. In addition, the smaller cutting angle suppresses the heat generated during machining, allowing for longer tool life. By using trochoidal machining, a high chip evacuation rate can be achieved even with machines that do not have sufficient power, and it is especially effective when machining grooves in difficult-to-cut materials. By making full use of the long flute length, wear is evenly distributed and, as a result, it is possible to achieve higher chip removal rates.

■Advantages of trochoidal processing

・Especially effective in machining difficult-to-cut materials and thin-walled workpieces ・Possible to significantly reduce the load on tools and machines ・High chip evacuation rate can be achieved even on machines with low power and insufficient dynamics. ・Stable machining even in environments where workpiece clamping is unstable ・Applicable with high axial depth of cut at 5 x d1 ・Higher efficiency can be achieved by increasing the feed rate using a multi-flute specification with up to 7 blades.

■The best tool for trochoid machining

To meet the high demands of trochoid machining, the Franken Trochoid features an unequal pitch, unequal lead design to reduce chatter vibrations, as well as the latest cutting edge design (geometry). The newly developed chip breaker also minimizes the load in the tool pullout direction and the risk of chip clogging, providing extremely safe machining. Short chips are easily ejected with compressed air or emulsion, preventing jamming. Additionally, newly developed high-performance coatings and application-optimized carbide substrates round out the Frankentrochoid's incredible performance.
