About This Product

An aluminum sorter is a device that separates and recovers 1) non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and copper, 2) iron, and 3) non-metals such as plastic and wood from raw materials. It is particularly effective in the separate collection of aluminum.

■Primary sorting to protect equipment

The aluminum sorting machine consists of an SDSR magnetic drum (left drum) for primary sorting that incorporates a strong magnet, and a belt conveyor for aluminum sorting (right drum). Input the raw materials to be sorted from the input port on the upper left, and this magnetic drum separates them into iron materials 2) and non-iron materials 1) and 3). By performing this primary sorting, it is possible to prevent damage to belts and drums in the subsequent process (belt conveyor for aluminum sorting).

■You can choose the type for the primary sorting.

In addition to the SDSR type magnetic drum, a CB-CON type hanging magnetic separator can also be used for primary sorting.

■Aluminum sorting is done through secondary sorting.

The primary sorted raw materials are conveyed to the right on the aluminum sorting belt conveyor, and aluminum and copper are thrown away by the aluminum sorting drum for the secondary sorting. Non-metals such as plastic and wood do not react at all to the force of the magnetic field, so they fall directly below the drum. The iron remains attracted to the magnet and falls when the magnetic field disappears. In this way, the aluminum sorting drum can sort into three types.

■Principle of sorting

Magnets do not attract materials such as aluminum and copper, so I don't understand why they can be sorted using magnets. Here I will briefly explain how it works. When the aluminum sorting drum built into this device is rotated at high speed, the magnetic field on the drum surface rapidly switches between north and south poles, generating a strong rotating magnetic field. When aluminum, copper, etc. are passed through this tube, eddy currents are generated, and the interaction between these eddy currents and the magnetic field allows the aluminum, copper, etc. to be thrown forward.

■What is eddy current?

Even if aluminum or copper is placed in a magnetic field, magnetic lines of force will pass through it. When this metal plate (such as aluminum or copper) is moved within a magnetic field, or when the magnetic field near the metal plate changes rapidly, changes occur in the magnetic flux within the metal in an attempt to counteract the change in the magnetic field. Eddy currents are eddy currents caused by changes in magnetic flux (electromagnetic induction effects).
