About This Product
The IQ design employs a Mach-Zehnder superstructure with two parallel Mach-Zehnder modulators (DP-MZMs) embedded in a Mach-Zehnder superstructure.
Each modulator is designed with an EO band of 20GHz or greater. The monitor photodiode has automatic bias control (ABC).
■Features
・Nested Mach-Zehnder modulator
・X-Cut lithium niobate
- Operates at wavelengths of 1,525 - 1,570 nm
・Wideband operation over 30GHz
・High extinction ratio
・Low optical insertion loss
・Excellent linearity
■Application
・OFDM encoding
・QPSK encoding
・QAM encoding
・CS-SSB (Carrier Suppressed Single Side Band)
・FMCW Rider
■Others
①Unless otherwise specified at the beginning of use, the conditions are Top = 25℃ and wavelength 1,550 nm.
②Measure the insertion loss at the maximum value of the modulator's transfer function, excluding the connector.
③The test setup must be agreed upon.
④Each bias section has two control terminals, which supply differential voltage to the bias electrodes of all MZs during operation to ensure the EOL bias voltage range.
⑤One PD monitors the entire output.
⑥Definition of PD responsiveness
・Set inner MZ to maximum transmittance.
・Apply voltage to the outer (phase) MZ.
・Responsiveness R= (Im_- 3 dB) / (Pout_- 3 dB)
・Im_ - 3 dB is the photodiode current when the output optical power is -3 dB from the maximum.
・Pout_- 3 dB is the output optical power at -3 dB from the maximum value.
⑦PD phase error is the difference between the maximum/minimum PD output and the maximum/minimum modulator optical output (modulator phase).
⑧If the PD phase error is ±5°, the phase error is equivalent to ±2.8%.
