■FeaturesPrFILE2 is a FAT file system for embedded systems that has a structure that can respond flexibly and quickly to customization requirements unique to each application. It is equipped with many functions that are essential for modern digital home appliances. PrFILE2 inherits all the features of PrFILE.

In addition, it is compatible with PrFILE at the API level, and drivers for PrFILE can be ported extremely easily.

■Compatible with FAT12/16/32, VFAT (long file name)PrFILE2 is a FAT file system used in MS-DOS/Windows PCs. Supports FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, and VFAT (long file name). By incorporating PrFILE2 and building a system, data can be exchanged between the device and the PC.

■Supports multiple languages. An optional product that allows Unicode to be specified for file names is available.Character codes are compatible with ASCII, SJIS (Japanese), Big5 (Traditional Chinese), GB (Simplified Chinese), Latin-1 (Western European languages), Latin-2 (Central and Eastern European languages), etc. . There are also optional products that add an API that allows you to use Unicode instead of local character codes such as SJIS when specifying file names with open and search APIs.

■Structure that can flexibly respond to application-specific customization requestsEmbedded systems, including digital home appliances such as digital cameras, portable music players, and flat-screen TVs, are becoming increasingly diverse in terms of media, types and sizes of data handled, and application characteristics, so file systems are required. ■High-speed file seek functionPrFILE2 allows you to save cluster link information for each file in a buffer specified by the application. By referring to the information in this buffer when seeking a file, you can move the file pointer quickly and keep the number of FAT references to a minimum.
